Export/Import-Trend: Im Jahr 2009 führten die weltwirtschaftlichen Turbulenzen dazu, dass die wichtigsten europäischen Abnehmerländer von Elektrotechnik- und Elektronik-Produkten aus Südafrika (Frankreich und Deutschland) zugunsten der Nachbarstaaten Südafrikas (Mosambik, Sambia und Simbabwe) als Kunden an Bedeutung verloren. Bei den Elektro-Importen nach Südafrika mussten ebenfalls alle großen "klassischen" Lieferländer teils empfindliche Absatzeinbußen hinnehmen.
