#MTP #NOA: Future Production is Modular & Open

The exhibition “Modular Production and NOA” is a joint project of manufacturers, module builders and users from the process industry. Under the umbrella of the associations NAMUR, ProcessNet, VDMA and ZVEI, the participating companies are driving current topics from process automation

With "#MTP #NOA: Future Production is Modular and Open", this year’s exhibition on modular production and NOA focuses firstly on the core technology of modular automation – the Module Type Package (MTP). Modular automation enables particularly fast and efficient engineering of individual modules: production units encapsulated in process and automation technology. Based on the MTP concept, which gives the individual modules a digital description, the modules can then be interconnected non-proprietary and flexibly via the orchestration system.

The second focus is on the NAMUR Open Architecture (NOA), which enables a secure second channel for collecting vital data which are necessary for monitoring and optimising process plants. The classic automation pyramid is not dissolved but extended, so that IT components can be easily integrated from the field level to the corporate management. Field devices can then send specific data directly to the cloud via an additionally established communication channel. Plant safety and availability are thus not affected.

Partners of the special exhibition are NAMUR, Processnet - an initiative of Dechema and VDI, VDMA and ZVEI.

Companies such as ABB, Copa-Data, Emerson, Endress+Hauser, Festo, HIMA, Knick, Krohne, Pepperl + Fuchs, Phoenix Contact, R.Stahl, Samson, Semodia, Siemens, Vega, Wago, Wika and Yokogawa are supporting the exhibition. Universities and institutes - such as TU Dresden and Helmut Schmidt University of Hamburg, FH Südwestfalen, TU Dortmund, TH Ingolstadt and Fraunhofer
- and a large number of users such as BASF, Bayer, CHT, Clariant, Covestro, Evonik, INVITE and Merck from the chemical and pharmaceutical industry in cooperation with module manufacturers are also taking part in the exhibition. Furthermore, system integrators such as SpiraTec and module builders such as Seepex are part of the project.
