ZVEI Recommendations on Chapter VI Data Act

Although Europe's digital transformation offers great opportunities, the Data Act threatens this potential. Chapter VI raises questions about the interchangeability of data processing services.  Yet what exactly counts as a data processing service, and how are SaaS and PaaS offerings affected?

Therefore, the ZVEI calls for Software-as-a-Service (SaaS) and Platform-as-a-Service (PaaS) to be exempt from this chapter's obligations. For manufacturers who enhance their products with digital services, the ability to easily switch providers is essential to promoting innovation and flexibility.
