Tallinn e-Energy declaration signed

On 20 September 2017, ZVEI signed the "Tallinn e-Energy declaration" together with 28 EU member states, Norway, associations and industry representatives.

The European Parliament and the Member States are currently discussing the reorganization of the European electricity market proposed by the Commission in November 2016. The main goals of the energy package and the new market design are "Energy Efficiency First", market leadership in the field of renewable energies and the strengthening of consumers. From ZVEI's point of view, digitization and flexibilization of the electricity markets are important prerequisites for achieving this. Digital technologies are becoming increasingly important in the energy sector and offer advantages for everyone.

Estonia's current chairmanship of the EU Council of Ministers supports the ZVEI on these issues and aims to further digitize the energy market in its work on the Electricity Market Design Directive and Regulation. This is manifested by the Council Presidency in the "Tallinn e-Energy declaration" signed by 28 member states plus Norway, European associations and industry representatives in Tallinn on 19 and 20 September. ZVEI supports and endorses this declaration, as it is an important prerequisite for further negotiations in the European institutions.

The European climate targets for 2030 can only be achieved through digital solutions. This includes intelligent energy efficiency and management tools. This digital know-how is necessary for an effective and efficient energy market, as it promotes demand response, can better integrate renewable energies and strengthens consumers.
