The Reference Architectural Model RAMI 4.0 and the Industrie 4.0 Component

The ZVEI and its partners have jointly reached important milestones in the standardisation of Industrie 4.0: The first version of a reference architecture for Industrie 4.0 (RAMI 4.0) and the Industrie 4.0 component, which precisely describes Industrie 4.0-compliant production equipment, have been developed.

Contrary to the assertion that standardisation of Industrie 4.0 was not progressing sufficiently quickly, the ZVEI and its partners have proven the opposite. Together with VDI/VDE-GMA, DKE and its partners in the former Verbändeplattform Industrie 4.0 [Industrie 4.0 association platform], Bitkom and VDMA, the Association has developed and combined the ideas and concepts of the automation sector. The result is the Reference Architectural Model RAMI 4.0 and the Industrie 4.0 component.

Taken together, the Reference Architectural Model and the Industrie 4.0 component serve companies as a basis for developing future products and business models. ZVEI fact sheets on Industrie 4.0 provide interesting information about RAMI 4.0 and the Industrie 4.0 component.
