ZVEI-White Paper New Concepts for Directionally Variable Emergency Lighting

Classical emergency lighting is designed for power failure to illuminate escape routes and to mark them with escape signs. This assumes that the shortest escape route is the decisive one and that it remains accessible in case of danger. In practice, however, this is not always the case. This document presents how a directionally variable marking of escape and rescue routes enables a fast and safe evacuation strategy, e.g. by visually blocking routes that cannot be used in case of fire and indicating safe alternatives.
