Network

The ZVEI represents Germany’s second-largest and most innovative industry. By the end of 2025, the industry employed around 873,000 people in Germany. Turnover in 2025 stood at 225.1 billion euros.

Sections

The sections support members with similar product ranges and provide product- and market-specific expertise. They facilitate the exchange of views, provide information on technical trends and drive forward standardisation in consultation with other associations. 

Committees

Around 5,000 volunteer experts work together in over 400 working groups. In addition to cross-product issues, the agenda includes industry-relevant topics such as new technologies, economic trends, social responsibility, foreign trade, research funding and the recruitment of young talent.

Thematic platforms

The ZVEI offers thematic platforms covering energy, the healthcare sector, industry, mobility and buildings, which pool knowledge and drive technical progress.

Regional offices

At regional level, the ZVEI regional offices ensure close links between member companies and the association, act as points of contact for regional politicians and maintain the regional network. They support members in regional initiatives aimed at implementing directives from Brussels or Berlin, and facilitate contacts with regional governments, regional associations and the local press. In most cases, the regional offices work closely with regional business associations to maximise their impact.

With its Berlin office, its European Office and EuropElectro in Beijing, the ZVEI is at the heart of the political decision-making process and is ideally positioned to identify issues early on in the legislative process and play an active role in shaping them.
