The Consumer Electronics (CE) industry has always been a driver of innovation in display and sound technology, which it continues to develop with a future-oriented approach. The member companies of the ZVEI Consumer Electronics Section place the needs of users at the centre of their developments and enable a contemporary, flexible use of audiovisual content, including personalized content discovery on all screens. The industry is committed, among other things, to responsible handling of old appliances and supports environmentally sound disposal and thus the recycling of important raw materials.

In 2022, the consumer electronics industry achieved a market volume of more than 6 billion euros with the relevant product groups (such as TV sets, radios, headphones and loudspeakers or audio and sound systems) in Germany. TV sets account for by far the largest share of the volume. Smart TVs with large screen sizes and the highest picture resolution (Ultra HD) are dominating the demand. Smart TVs, which enable the use of TV apps and audiovisual media libraries, are now standard – 97 percent of all TVs sold in Germany in 2022 were Smart TVs. The share of Ultra HD TVs measured against the total TV market was around 75 percent in 2022. Nearly half of the TV sets sold in Germany had a screen size of 51 inches or larger. Approximately 20 percent of consumers even opted for a TV with a screen size of at least 61 inches in 2021. Our network

The successful work of the Consumer Electronics Section is based on a well-developed network with diverse contacts in politics, business and society. 

This includes the most important national associations in our industry, in particular ANGA, bitkom, Deutsche TV-Plattform, eco, VAUNET, VDE and ZVEH. In addition, ZVEI is involved in the umbrella associations BDI and Digitaleurope. We also maintain close contacts with the Federal Association of Technical Retailers (BVT), among others, and have partnership ties with gfu Consumer & Home Electronics GmbH and Messe Berlin. 

This good networking enables an efficient working method and targeted representation of interests.
