Platform Microelectronics

Mit der ZVEI Plattform Microelectronics vereinen wir Akteure des Mikroelektronik-Ökosystems.

Microelectronics is the backbone of many future technologies and solutions, and is therefore the driving force behind digitalisation and sustainability. It enables the development of high-performance, energy-efficient and cost-effective applications. Microelectronics has the potential to be as transformative as the invention of the steam engine or the development of the internet.

Through the ZVEI Microelectronics Platform, we bring together stakeholders from across the microelectronics ecosystem, including those involved in research and development, chip design, manufacturing and integration into end applications. In addition to semiconductors, printed circuit boards (PCBs) and electronics manufacturing are central components as they are essential for system integration and the functionality of microelectronic components (see the PCBs, Components and Systems and Semiconductors trade associations). The platform's activities are organised into four thematic areas: Advocacy, Regulation, Market and Technology.

This integration enables us to take a targeted and coordinated approach across the entire value chain. We promote collaboration between industry, politics and academia to develop joint solutions. We promote the development of advanced microelectronics to address the major challenges of our time.

The platform's working groups

  • Advocacy & Regulatory: The Platform Microelectronics' Advocacy & Regulatory Working Group is responsible for engaging with policymakers and other stakeholders, such as think tanks, and for developing relevant industry positions on policy issues in the field of microelectronics. The working group also helps companies to comply with new and existing legal requirements, such as environmental legislation and trade regulations. The group offers a platform for sharing best practice and practical solutions.
  • Technology, Market & Trends: This working group serves as the industry’s technology- and market-oriented forum. It addresses technological issues and market trends in the field of microelectronics. The goal is to identify relevant developments at an early stage, provide companies with sound guidance and promote pre-competitive exchange, for example through collaborative work on technical solutions.
