ZVEI-Show-Case PCF@Control Cabinet presented at Digital Summit

In mid-December 2022, Prof. Dr.-Ing. Dieter Wegener, spokesman for ZVEI's Industry 4.0 management group, presented the ZVEI show case PCF@Control Cabinet to Chancellor Olaf Scholz, Transport Minister Volker Wissing, Interior Minister Nancy Faeser and Anna Christmann, BMWK Commissioner for the Digital Economy, at the Digital Summit. The Digital Summit is organised annually by the Federal Ministry of Economics and Climate Protection (BMWK) and the Federal Ministry of Digital Affairs and Transport (BMDV).

In mid-December 2022, Prof. Dr.-Ing. Dieter Wegener, spokesman for ZVEI's Industry 4.0 management group, presented the ZVEI-Show-Case PCF@Control Cabinet to Chancellor Olaf Scholz, Transport Minister Volker Wissing, Interior Minister Nancy Faeser and Anna Christmann, BMWK Commissioner for the Digital Economy, at the Digital Summit. The Digital Summit is organised annually by the Federal Ministry of Economics and Climate Protection (BMWK) and the Federal Ministry of Digital Affairs and Transport (BMDV).

With the ZVEI show case PCF@Control Cabinet, the ZVEI, together with 14 companies from industry, is demonstrating how innovations make a substantial contribution on the way to a climate-neutral industrial society. The show case impressively illustrates how digitalisation and networking can be used to collect data and create transparency across the entire supply chain. By including the PCF information provided (i.e. the carbon footprint) of all individual components installed in the control cabinet, the product carbon footprint of the control cabinet shown is calculated automatically.

This is made possible by the Digital Product Passport (DPP4.0) based on the Asset Administration Shell (AAS) and the Digital Nameplate, via which data is exchanged across companies. Through these Industry 4.0 applications, we can illustrate by way of example how much CO2 was produced for the manufacture of a complex product consisting of many supplier components.

In the ZVEI show case, 14 companies are involved in an interdisciplinary way and demonstrate across companies how regulatory, legal, economic and technical requirements can be met.
