A reliable, affordable, consumer-friendly, efficient and environmentally compatible energy supply – these are the premises on which the energy system of the future must be based. These are the goals for which the ZVEI and its member companies are working, with technologies and products which are energy-intelligent, energy-efficient and preserve the climate, as a capable and expert ally of energy policy.

The ZVEI and the electro and digital industry support the energy transition

For the ZVEI and its member companies, the energy transition means not only opting out of nuclear energy or the discussions over rising energy prices. The ZVEI is concerned with a fundamental change of the complete energy system to a world increasingly characterised by the use of electricity. The future requirements are high: Security of supply, competitive electricity prices, high quality of equipment and services and the sustainability of the complete energy system are the standards by which all those involved must be measured.

The energy transition will decouple consumption of energy and growth

Yet success will be worth it, since the energy transition offers the opportunity to help Germany to become a modern intelligent system with high energy efficiency, largely independent of fossil energy sources and their price changes – and will therefore also help growth and employment. The key factors in this success are innovative technologies and systems. By this means, the energy transition will become one of the most important drivers of innovations, but also for the decoupling of energy consumption and growth. This will create export opportunities, since Germany is not the only country in the world which wants to put its energy supply on a sustainable basis.

The energy transition will succeed with “smart” market design

The ZVEI sees the electro and digital industry, with its technologies, products and solutions, as an important pacemaker in overcoming these social challenges. Special importance must be attached to the so-called “interdisciplinary” technologies of the sectors of power electronics, Internet technologies and Embedded Systems. If we succeed in raising energy-efficiency potentials, defining a “smart” market design and marketing the innovations, products and learning experiences of the energy transition, the positive effects of the energy transition will then predominate. The ZVEI is convinced of this, and is therefore making its contribution!
