ZVEI Position on the Single Market Strategy 2025

The European single market is pivotal to the competitiveness of our domestic industry. Promoting it is therefore important. The 'New Approach' and the 'New Legislative Framework' (NLF) are the basis. However, it is essential to emphasise the need for smooth interaction between the NLF, standardisation and market surveillance. Optimising the market access conditions for products hinges greatly upon this critical factor.

Our ZVEI position document sets forth crucial recommendations to get this done. These include the achievement of a coherent legal framework, the horizontal introduction of digital product passports and user instructions, and the prevention of a fragmented single market. We also call for the European standardisation system to be strengthened and effective market surveillance to be guaranteed.
