FIEEC and ZVEI call for digital sovereignty for Europe

At the Summit on European Digital Sovereignty in Berlin, French and German electrical and digital industry associations issued a joint position paper calling for a clear strategy for Europe's digital future. FIEEC and ZVEI are focusing on innovation, open markets, and international cooperation—and are calling for a paradigm shift: Europe must build on its industrial strengths and shape the next generation of digital technologies.

The two associations have formulated the following key demands:

  • Strengthen Industrial AI
  • Establishing open and secure data spaces
  • Strategically promote cybersecurity
  • Creating the right legal framework for a competitive industrial and innovation ecosystem
  • Further develop the microelectronics ecosystem
  • Creating powerful, competitive and resilient infrastructure
  • Establish a strategic raw materials and trade policy
  • Advancing standardisation
  • Increased support for industrial innovation in Europe
