The industry faces challenges such as the growing regulation, geopolitical conditions, increasing global competition, and an acute shortage of skilled workers. Digital transformation can solve some of these challenges. However, it can only succeed if data is viewed as a strategic resource and is therefore shared securely and efficiently.
The new ZVEI white paper shows how the Asset Administration Shell (AAS), as a digital twin of physical assets, processes, or systems, creates the basis for interoperable, cross-company data rooms.
The AAS enables data to be provided in a standardized, machine- and human-readable format. In conjunction with data spaces the AAS fulfills its potential: Companies can exchange their data in a controlled manner, drive innovation, and become part of a European data ecosystem. This makes it possible to break down data silos, meet regulatory requirements such as the digital product passport, and implement new data-based business models.
The white paper provides a practical overview of the technical basics, specific use cases, and strategic implications for companies of all sizes. It is aimed at decision-makers, IT managers, and anyone who wants to actively shape the digital future of industry.
