ZVEI-Position: Open public consultation on the proposal for a revision of regulation 1025/2012

Regulation 1025/2012 is a cornerstone of the European standardization system and, together with the New Legislative Framework (NLF), forms the basis for the safe movement of goods and fair competition in Europe. For over four decades, this proven approach has ensured clear rules, high safety standards, and technology-neutral solutions.

In view of current developments – from the ECJ ruling in the James Elliott case to the HAS system – ZVEI sees a need for more precise clarifications and improvements. Our position paper shows how the European standardization system can be strengthened:

  • Alignment of international and European standards
  • Acceleration of the standardization process
  • Legal certainty for harmonized standards and presumption of conformity
  • Consistent use of common specifications
  • Strengthening expert participation
