The New Legislative Framework (NLF) is a proven and efficient regulatory framework for the European Single Market for goods. The combination of fundamental legal requirements and voluntarily applicable harmonised standards enables a technology-neutral and innovation-friendly approach to product regulation. The foundations for the European Single Market were laid in the 1980s with the “New Approach” and further developed in 2008 with the creation of the NLF.
