Investigation on EMC Emissions with Increased Number of Lighting Devices

An increased number of electronic devices may cause an increased radio noise. This may result in potential EMC and radio interferences.
Since LED lighting products are perceived as one of the devices that may impact the EMC and radio protection, the lighting section within the Electro and Digital Industry Association, ZVEI investigated this impact with regards to lighting products in their typical non-residential and residential environments.
This ZVEI report describes lighting trends and presents the emissions of most common lighting products in a CISPR 15 measurement setup and in an in-situ office environment. The modelling of in-situ emissions is discussed, too. The results lead to the conclusion that the current CISPR 15 requirements sufficiently limit the impact of CISPR 15 compliant lighting products on EMC and radio protection and it is recommended to assure EMC and radio protection by better enforcements of the current requirements and not by stricter requirements.
