ZVEI Position Paper: Towards a Competitive European Data Single Market

Europe's future competitiveness, digital sovereignty, and resilience depend largely on its ability to leverage data. This offers not only a key lever for the economy, but also clear added value for society. Data forms the basis for groundbreaking innovations in areas ranging from industry and healthcare to energy and mobility. However, this potential can only be realized if the legal framework is appropriate. To this end, the framework must be conducive, proportionate, strategically aligned, and consistent with Europe's long-term goals. Simplification must be a guiding principle of European policymaking.
